Government Shutdown
“The US government entered a state of suspended animation on 1 October after Congress failed to agree on a budget for the next fiscal year, causing federal agencies — including those overseeing science policy and research — to shut down indefinitely” (Nature) The governemnt shutdown for some people is not a big deal. Many services will continue, and that’s what all people want. One of the reasons of why elite people do not agree with this shutdown is because they fear that society will realize that they can function just fine, and in fact, better by not being encumbered by a government. In my opinion, I'm all for letting all the six figures salaried that government workers who think they are untouchable get a dose of reality and lose a little of their fat checks. As I learned today in government class, members of the U.S. Congress get too much compared to other governments. In conclusion, I think that this government shutdown will not only be a breath of fresh air but also a new start.
